Energy efficient design that supports health and wellness
VCII's design was guided by several industry frameworks and certification systems that reinforce our commitment to creating a sustainable, energy efficient and comfortable environment that supports the health and well-being of tenants and visitors.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®)
LEED® is the current industry benchmark for green building certification, encompassing attributes such as water and energy efficiency, waste reduction, material selection and indoor environmental quality. VCII is designed to achieve LEED® Platinum, indicating a concerted and holistic effort to use resources efficiently, minimize its environmental footprint, and reduce costs over the life of the building.
WELL Building Standard™
WELL is a system dedicated to health and human experience, considering qualities such as air, light, fitness, water and comfort. VCII is designed to attain WELL Gold Certification, illustrating a careful focus on the comfort and well-being of those who work and visit the facility. From employees who work here every day to guests who stop by periodically, all can be confident that the interiors have been designed to enhance their everyday experiences and support their health.
Wired Certification
Wired Certification is a commercial real estate rating system that demonstrates to tenants that building owners and operators have carefully considered the digital infrastructure of the building—including current needs and the capacity to upgrade as technology evolves. Wired Certification considers aspects such as digital connectivity, flexibility, resiliency, redundancy and pathway planning. Just as the other frameworks address the building’s environmental, health and wellness attributes, Wired Certification is an indication that VCII will always support the advanced technology requirements of those who work there.
Radiant Heating and Cooling
VCII features a ceiling-based radiant heating and cooling system that has long been the industry standard in Europe, due to its energy efficiency and ability to support a comfortable interior environment. Heated or chilled water is circulated through metal ceiling panels, enabling efficient control over the interior temperature. The system is superior to other methods in many ways: it’s quiet and discrete, has low maintenance requirements, minimizes hot and cold spots, and avoids the spread of particulate—common with forced air systems.
